More than twenty years of research has shown that the majority of people who complete the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction program show an increased ability to relax, greater energy and enthusiasm for life, improved self-esteem, increased ability to cope with long and short-term stress situations, reductions in pain levels and an increased ability to cope with chronic pain. Recent research has also shown that MBSR decreases the risk of relapse for people who suffer with depression and people have lasting decreases in psychological and physical pain.
 
Mindfulness is a way of relating directly to what is going on in your life and increases awareness of what is happening in your life. In our stress filled world developing mindfulness provides the ability to control your life and make better decisions.
 
You have probably experienced many moments of “mindlessness” – moments when you are lost in thought, worry with an increase in forgetfulness, missing the special and ordinary moments in your life. Restoring a sense of balance and well-being is accomplished by increasing awareness of all aspects of self, including body, mind and spirit. MBSR is intended to provide the ability to increase awareness and take back control of your life. Mindfulness is an internal resource that you already have but just need to reawaken within yourself. Whether you are suffering with a chronic disease, have too much stress in your life, have trouble sleeping or just desire more balance, MBSR is for you.
